中国人有一个有趣的现象是学了十来年英语连打招呼都没有过关,一见面还是: how are you ,fine ,thank you ,and you, i’m fine too, thank you bye bye !!! 我说你那个外国人同志啊,你怎么不说and you 啊,你不说and you 我就没有办法向下说啊,你只有说and you 我才能说i’m fine too!!
you very much!
no!!!
我问他还会甚么,他就说:i’m a boy. 我们国家教英语这个句型教的最好了,student ,come here, let’s have a talk, what’s that ?然后学生就会说:teacher, i think, it’s a desk,老师会说:no ,it’s not a desk,
chinese misdirected their energy!
最可怕的是外国人回头说了一句,damn it ,shut up ,get out of my face now。
a temporary job ,so that i can save up some money to go traveling.
,you am, you are!
否则这壶水永远不开!!toughen your body, toughen your mind.(劳其筋骨,苦其心智)there is no substitute for hard work.(勤奋工作是无可替代的。)
一听四六级的磁带,怎么讲的和我不一样 i prefer cold weather to hot weather.
?my name is zhanghui,do you like english i like it very much ,我怎么都听的懂哟。
比如说,张辉,你在干什么,美国人讲话,hello ,you welcome to china. i hope you enjoy your staying here . 。。。。。这是几个单词啊,怎么和我们老师讲的不一样,我们老师讲的是:sit down please ,stand up please ,good morning teacher!!中国人讲话是用嘴巴讲的,就象,do you like english
,english is
important ,i think learning english is very
difficult中国人说英语都是从嘴巴的前半部分说出来,而美国人却是用腹腔,胸腔,喉腔,口腔,和算腔,五腔并用〃例如:i have been looking forward to meeting you i’ve heard so much about you !!〃所以什么时候你讲英语你的同学听不懂了,你就成功了〃.
how are you doing?

evening, ladies and gentlemen:
thank you very much for offering me such a
fantastic opportunity to be here. today my topic is about choice and process. a
research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day. with so many choices
one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that
they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. in my opinion, the
following part is of much more importance than the choice. there is no absolute
right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the
difference.
life is a box of chocolate; you never know
what you will get. forrest gump made no decision by and for himself. but he
accomplished great success with his strong will in the process. the process is
not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and
persistence we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles.
no matter what the choice is, enjoy the
process. in the process, your
potential will be inspired and new
discoveries, improvement and progress will come to you. these are the most
beautiful sceneries and only on the way can you see it. these make your life
colorful.
there is no need and i don’t want to judge whether it is right
or wrong for me to be here, but i congratulate to myself for i gain and enjoy
this fantastic experience. so my dear friends, never worry about your choice
and enjoy the process. i am sure you will get something new and interesting
tonight after you chose to come here. thank you!

afternoon ,ladies and
gentlemen!
i’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! to begin
with ,i want to ask a question .does everybody dream a good dream last night?
actually ,today i want to talk about dream with you. of course, what i want to
talk is not a dream you have last night, but a dream—— about life.
everyone has dreams about life, different
dreams at different life stage, and we need dreams to support us. dreams are
like the stars we never reach in the sky,but like most mariners(水手),we can chart our course by
them. with the dream,we have a direction, with a direction, we were no longer
confused.with the dream, there is hope, with hope, we have the strength to
fight.
but i know, life is tough, and there are always ups and downs, maybe we fail in
the way to our aims, and we may feel depressed ,whenever at this time, the dream
in our heart can always comfort us, encourage us ,and support us to move ahead
.
young!fortunately, i am young now. just due
to it, i know that nothing is impossible.i firmly believe that nothing can
stand in my way. if
i can’t realize my dream,it result from
that i haven’t work harder enough and i won’t find other excuses. if no people
believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. if you think the god
haven’t blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and
create the truth.
"my breath swallows the sky and
make the yellow river overflow, my sword is famous in kyushu and it can
collapse the five sacred mountains." at some time in the past i also
had am bitious words and i had some achievements. each achievement results from
my hard work. i always believe that "if you want to have more
achievements than others, you must work harder."
in some extent, the dream is the hope. if
you can insist on doing something, the victory will come.
hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die,
life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when
dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think
of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive
from today.let’s--- move ----out!
thank you for your listening!

hundred years later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of american
society and finds himself an exile in his own land. so we have come here today
to dramatize an appalling condition.
in a sense we have come to our nation’s
capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the
magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they
were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this
note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
it is obvious today that america has
defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are
concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the
negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient
funds." but we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.
we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of
opportunity of this nation.
so we have come to cash this check -- a
check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of
justice.
we have also come to this hallowed spot to
remind america of the fierce urgency of now. this is no time to engage in the
luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. now is
the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit
path of racial justice. now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all
of god’s children. now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of
racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.
it would be fatal for the nation to overlook
the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the negro.
this sweltering summer of the negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until
there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. nineteen sixty-three
is not an end, but a beginning.
those who hope that the negro needed to
blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation
returns to business as usual. there will be neither rest nor tranquility in
america until the negro is granted his citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of
revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright
day of justice emerges.
but there is something that i must say to
my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice.
in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful
deeds. let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the
cup of bitterness and hatred.
we must forever conduct our struggle on the
high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to
degenerate into physical violence. again and again we must rise to the majestic
heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
the marvelous new militancy which has
engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people,
for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have
come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their
freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
we cannot walk alone.and as we walk, we
must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. we cannot turn back. there are
those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "when will you be
satisfied?" we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy
with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways
and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long as the negro’s
basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we can never be
satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro in new york
believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are not satisfied, and we
will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness
like a mighty stream.

morning, everyone:
my name is , a lovely boy of
thirteen. i’m very glad to stand here and share my dream with you.
different people have different dreams.
some people dream of being rich or famous and others dream of staying young for
long. i also have a lot of dreams. but my dream is to become a lawyer.
if i were a lawyer in the future, i would
serve our country first because from tv, i learn the japanese seize our
country’s islands. i can’t stand it when they even say
these islands are theirs. so, i feel strongly that i must study hard and get
back diaoyu islands by law when i grow up.
if i were a lawyer in the future, i would
serve people heart and soul. i would offer free help for people in need.
if i were a lawyer in the future, i would
let people live a happier life. of course, i know it’s difficult for
me to achieve my dream now, but i’ll make it by my hard working. come
on. just do it!
that’s all. thanks for all your
listening!

am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest
demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
five score years ago, a great american, in
whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the emancipation proclamation.
this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro
slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a
joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
but one hundred years later, the negro
still is not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still
sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination.
one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the
midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the
negro is still languished in the corners of american society and finds himself
an exile in his own land. and so we've come here today to dramatize a

nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic
wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of
independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to
fall heir. this note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as
white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable rights" of
"life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." it is obvious
today that america has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her
citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation,

evening, dear audience :i am happy that i can have such kind of opportunity to stand here to
give you a speech. what i am going to talk about today is “my dream
to shine”.
we all want to believe that we are capable
of great feats ,we can call the potential to reach our fullest dream.
“no young man believes he will
ever fade”, it was a saying of my old friend , and a fine one . we
look round in this world, full of life, and motion, and ceaseless progress, as
in setting out on delightful journey, we strain our eager gaze forward . there
is a feeling of eternity in youth, just right which makes us amend for
everything.
about my dream, it can be traced back to my
childhood, i just want play more ,when i grew older, i was convinced that i
would be a physicist or a psychologist. after ,it’s a pity for me
that i could not do anything to approach it .although they have ceased to exist
and dispeared ,they lead my growth along the way. dreams nourish our spirit
,they represent possibility even then we are dragged down by reality . dream is
the beacon. , without dream, there is no secure direction; without direction,
there is no life. so i believe the important thing in life is to have a great
dream, and the determination to attain it. without own dream, wecould never
have grown up a real man .and in fact, not only for personal, but also for
world.
now, i have a dream that one day our nation
would rise up and live out the true meaning of its pledge of territorial
integrity and people's rich and powerful, such as our diaoyu island.
and as for personal dream, my ideal future
career is to be a urban and regional plannerwho could function as a chief
planner and designer of a city.
at first, it was my natural teacher of
senior high school who brought me great interest in architectures and cities
when i was far away from urban planning . and then i met many cities in and out
of books by myself .different places and different cultures just made me more
interested in cities.
i see that there’re many problems
caused by urban development and the lack of deliberate planning, such as
environmental pollution, slums, urban sprawling etc.cities establish the kind
of housing, industrial, and retail facilities which can be built in it. others
eva luate the impact of proposed residential or commercial development and
suggest ways for communities to respond. and i want to protect open space
andagricultural land in the face of increasing demands for new homes and
business.
the urban planning system should be
complete and can run itself and most cities have developed and
there’re much experience and many cases to learn. i want to commit.
finally, planners usually can find a decent
job and get good paid and i want to have a house, facing the sea with flowers
in the future. i will take every effort to accomplish my dream .i
won’t let it become a fantasy , it is just my dream .maybe some years
later , it will become true .
i grew up in ages and also in thoughts. it
was that time i began to know that life is a difficult journey. and it was that
time i began to think about my life. i asked myself what a life i want to live,
and what a man i want to be. but it was hard to give myself a satisfactory
answer. but maybe that is the best answer ,we are growing better in this
process. in the journey of life, only our dreams are permanent, and only the
spirit of pursuing dreams is permanent. classical is something not fade, but
grow more precious with time pass by , so is dream. when i am old, maybe my
dreams still shine, hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a
broken-winged bird that cannot fly. i wish everyone can make your dream alive.
good luck to everyone! thank you!
hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die,
life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when
dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think
of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive
from today.
how to say future? maybe it’s a
nice wish. let us make up our minds, stick to it and surely well enjoy our
life. dreamers are not content with merelymediocre , because no one ever dreams
of going half way . sonow i will not avoid the tasks of today and charge them
to tomorrow . once my teacher said :” you are not sewing, you are
stylist; never forget which you should lay out to people is your thought, not
craft.” i will put my personality with my interest and ability into
my study, during these process i will combine learning with doing. if i can
achieve that, i think that i really grow up.
to be honest, being a quiet girl can have
the courage to show myself, i think i succeed.
i’m not a diamond, not a crystal
and nor a star, not something like jewels or planets will be always bright and
twinkling as you imagine. but i do believe shining is not a dream far away,
because i have seen the success is on its way.
morning/afternoon, dear teachers and my friends. i’m a student from no.2 middle school
of qugou. my name is zhao bingjie. i’m very glad to stand here to make a short speech for you. today my
speech topic is “embrace the dream”.
many people have a dream about the future besides
me. i had a beautiful dream since i was a young little girl. i really want to
be an outstanding writer like guo jingming in the future, because i liked
reading very much when i was a child. so, i practice writing articles in my
free time, by doing that i feel very comfortable. i love my dream and i will
try my best to make my dream come true.
it’s about my dream, what about you? do you have a dream? do you think
everyone has their own dreams? in fact, you are wrong. many people never
thought about future and what they will be like. they never have a dream . it’s not good for them. only have
dreams, then we can know what we should do for our dreams and try our best to
make them true. so, it’s important and necessary to have a dream.
someone once said that success comes from a
dream. so, fellow students, let’s have a dream, and embrace the dream. then, we will have a
beautiful tomorrow!
my speech is over, thanks for your
listening.

thank you. thank you, president chen,
chairmen ren, vice president chi, vice minister wei. we are delighted to be
here today with a very large american delegation, including the first lady and
our daughter, who is a student at stanford, one of the schools with which
beijing university has a relationship. we have six members of the united states
congress; the secretary of state; secretary of commerce; the secretary of
agriculture; the chairman of our council of economic advisors; senator sasser,
our ambassador; the national security advisor and my chief of staff, among others.
i say that to illustrate the importance that the united states places on our
relationship with china.
i would like to begin by congratulating all
of you, the students, the faculty, the administrators, on celebrating the
centennial year of your university. gongxi, beida. (applause.)
as i'm sure all of you know, this
campus was once home to yenching university which was founded by american
missionaries. many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an american
architect. thousands of americans students and professors have come here to
study and teach. we feel a special kinship with you.i am, however, grateful
that this day is different in one important respect from another important
occasion 79 years ago. in june of 1919, the first president of yenching
university, john leighton stuart, was set to deliver the very first
commencement address on these very grounds. at the appointed hour, he appeared,
but no students appeared. they were all out leading the may 4th movement for
china's political and cultural renewal. when i read this, i hoped that
when i walked into the auditorium today, someone would be sitting here. and i
thank you for being here, very much. (applause.)
over the last 100 years, this university
has grown to more than 20,000 students. your graduates are spread throughout
china and around the world. you have built the largest university library in
all of asia. last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study,
including half of your math and science majors. and in this anniversary year,
more than a million people in china, asia, and beyond have logged on to your
web site. at the dawn of a new century, this university is leading china into
the future.
i come here today to talk to you, the next
generation of china's leaders, about the critical importance to your
future of building a strong partnership between china and the united states.
the american people deeply admire china for
its thousands of years of contributions to culture and religion, to philosophy
and the arts, to science and technology. we remember well our strong
partnership in world war ii. now we see china at a moment in history when your
glorious past is matched by your present sweeping transformation and the even
greater promise of your future.
just three decades ago, china was virtually
shut off from the world. now, china is a member of more than 1,000
international organizations -- enterprises that affect everything from air
travel to agricultural development. you have opened your nation to trade and
investment on a large scale. today, 40,000 young chinese study in the united
states, with hundreds of thousands more learning in asia, africa, europe, and
latin america.
your social and economic transformation has
been even more remarkable, moving from a closed command economic system to a
driving, increasingly market-based and driven economy, generating two decades
of unprecedented growth, giving people greater freedom to travel within and
outside china, to vote in village elections, to own a home, choose a job,
attend a better school. as a result you have lifted literally hundreds of
millions of people from poverty. per capita income has more than doubled in the
last decade. most chinese people are leading lives they could not have imagined
just 20 years ago.
of course, these changes have also brought
disruptions in settled patterns of life and work, and have imposed enormous
strains on your environment. once every urban chinese was guaranteed employment
in a state enterprise. now you must compete in a job market. once a chinese
worker had only to meet the demands of a central planner in beijing. now the
global economy means all must match the quality and creativity of the rest of
the world. for those who lack the right training and skills and support, this
new world can be daunting.

others. i say that to illustrate the importance that the united states places
on our relationship with china.
i would like to begin by congratulating all
of you, the students, the faculty, the administrators, on celebrating the
centennial yea(本站向您推荐wWW.91exam.org)r
of your university. gongxi, beida. (applause.)
as i’m sure all of you know, this campus
was once home to yenching university which was founded by american
missionaries. many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an american
architect. thousands of americans students and professors have come here to
study and teach. we feel a special kinship with you.
i am, however, grateful that this day is
different in one important respect from another important occasion 79 years
ago. in june of 1919, the first president of yenching university, john leighton
stuart, was set to deliver the very first commencement address on these very
grounds. at the appointed hour, he appeared, but no students appeared. they
were all out leading the may 4th movement for china’s political and cultural
renewal. when i read this, i hoped that when i walked into the auditorium
today, someone would be sitting here. and i thank you for being here, very
much. (applause.)
over the last 100 years, this university
has grown to more than 20,000 students. your graduates are spread throughout
china and around the world. you have built the largest university library in
all of asia. last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study,
including half of your math and science majors. and in this anniversary year,
more than a million people in china, asia, and beyond have logged on to your
web site. at the dawn of a new century, this university is leading china into
the future.
i come here today to talk to you, the next
generation of china’s leaders, about the critical importance to your future of
building a strong partnership between china and the united states.
the american people deeply admire china for
its thousands of years of contributions to culture and religion, to philosophy
and the arts, to science and technology. we remember well our strong
partnership in world war ii. now we see china at a moment in history when your
glorious past is matched by your present sweeping transformation and the even
greater promise of your future.
just three decades ago, china was virtually
shut off from the world. now, china is a member of more than 1,000
international organizations -- enterprises that affect everything from air
travel to agricultural development. you have opened your nation to trade and
investment on a large scale. today, 40,000 young chinese study in the united
states, with hundreds of thousands more learning in asia, africa, europe, and
latin america.
your social and economic transformation has
been even more remarkable, moving from a closed command economic system to a
driving, increasingly market-based and driven economy, generating two decades
of unprecedented growth, giving people greater freedom to travel within and
outside china, to vote in village elections, to own a home, choose a job,
attend a better school. as a result you have lifted literally hundreds of
millions of people from poverty. per capita income has more than doubled in the
last decade. most chinese people are leading lives they could not have imagined
just 20 years ago.
of course, these changes have also brought
disruptions in settled patterns of life and work, and have imposed enormous
strains on your environment. once every urban chinese was guaranteed employment
in a state enterprise. now you must compete in a job market. once a chinese
worker had only to meet the demands of a central planner in beijing. now the
global economy means all must match the quality and creativity of the rest of
the world. for those who lack the right training and skills and support, this
new world can be daunting.
in the short-term, good, hardworking people
-- some, at least will find themselves unemployed. and, as all of you can see,
there have been enormous environmental and economic and health care costs to
the development pattern and the energy use pattern of the last 20 years -- from
air pollution to deforestation to acid rain and water shortage.
in the face of these challenges new systems
of training and social security will have to be devised, and new environmental
policies and technologies will have to be introduced with the goal of growing
your economy while improving the environment. everything i know about the
intelligence, the ingenuity, the enterprise of the chinese people and
everything i have heard these last few days in my discussions with president
jiang, prime minister zhu and others give me confidence that you will succeed.
as you build a new china, america wants to
build a new relationship with you. we want china to be successful, secure and
open, working with us for a more peaceful and prosperous world. i know there
are those in china and the united states who question whether closer relations
between our countries is a good thing. but everything all of us know about the
way the world is changing and the challenges your generation will face tell us
that our two nations will be far better off working together than apart.
the late deng xiaoping counseled us to seek
truth from facts. at the dawn of the new century, the facts are clear. the
distance between our two nations, indeed, between any nations, is shrinking.
where once an american clipper ship took months to cross from china to the
united states. today, technology has made us all virtual neighbors. from
laptops to lasers, from microchips to megabytes, an information revolution is
lighting the landscape of human knowledge, bringing us all closer together.
ideas, information, and money cross the planet at the stroke of a computer key,
bringing with them extraordinary opportunities to create wealth, to prevent and
conquer disease, to foster greater understanding among peoples of different
histories and different cultures.
but we also know that this greater openness
and faster change mean that problems which start beyond one nations borders can
quickly move inside them -- the spread of weapons of mass destruction, the
threats of organized crime and drug trafficking, of environmental degradation,
and severe economic dislocation. no nation can isolate itself from these
problems, and no nation can solve them alone. we, especially the younger
generations of china and the united states, must make common cause of our
common challenges, so that we can, together, shape a new century of brilliant
possibilities.
in the 21st century -- your century --
china and the united states will face the challenge of security in asia. on the
korean peninsula, where once we were adversaries, today we are working together
for a permanent peace and a future freer of nuclear weapons.
on the indian subcontinent, just as most of
the rest of the world is moving away from nuclear danger, india and pakistan
risk sparking a new arms race. we are now pursuing a common strategy to move
india and pakistan away from further testing and toward a dialogue to resolve
their differences.
in the 21st century, your generation must
face the challenge of stopping the spread of deadlier nuclear, chemical, and
biological weapons. in the wrong hands or the wrong places, these weapons can
threaten the peace of nations large and small. increasingly, china and the
united states agree on the importance of stopping proliferation. that is why we
are beginning to act in concert to control the worlds most dangerous weapons.
in the 21st century, your generation will
have to reverse the international tide of crime and drugs. around the world,
organized crime robs people of billions of dollars every year and undermines
trust in government. america knows all about the devastation and despair that
drugs can bring to schools and neighborhoods. with borders on more than a dozen
countries, china has become a crossroad for smugglers of all kinds.
last year, president jiang and i asked
senior chinese and american law enforcement officials to step up our
cooperation against these predators, to stop money from being laundered, to
stop aliens from being cruelly smuggled, to stop currencies from being
undermined by counterfeiting. just this month, our drug enforcement agency
opened an office in beijing, and soon chinese counternarcotics experts will be
working out of washington.
in the 21st century, your generation must
make it your mission to ensure that today’s progress does not come at
tomorrow’s expense. china’s remarkable growth in the last two decades has come
with a toxic cost, pollutants that foul the water you drink and the air you
breathe -- the cost is not only environmental, it is also serious in terms of
the health consequences of your people and in terms of the drag on economic
growth.
environmental problems are also
increasingly global as well as national. for example, in the near future, if
present energy use patterns persist, china will overtake the united states as
the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, the gases which are the
principal cause of global warming. if the nations of the world do not reduce
the gases which are causing global warming, sometime in the next century there
is a serious risk of dramatic changes in climate which will change the way we
live and the way we work, which could literally bury some island nations under
mountains of water and undermine the economic and social fabric of nations.
we must work together. we americans know
from our own experience that it is possible to grow an economy while improving
the environment. we must do that together for ourselves and for the world.
building on the work that our vice
president, al gore, has done previously with the chinese government, president
jiang and i are working together on ways to bring american clean energy
technology to help improve air quality and grow the chinese economy at the same
time.
but i will say this again -- this is not on
my remarks -- your generation must do more about this. this is a huge challenge
for you, for the american people and for the future of the world. and it must
be addressed at the university level, because political leaders will never be
willing to adopt environmental measures if they believe it will lead to
large-scale unemployment or more poverty. the evidence is clear that does not
have to happen. you will actually have more rapid economic growth and better
paying jobs, leading to higher levels of education and technology if we do this
in the proper way. but you and the university, communities in china, the united
states and throughout the world will have to lead the way. (applause.)
in the 21st century your generation must
also lead the challenge of an international financial system that has no
respect for national borders. when stock markets fall in hong kong or jakarta,
the effects are no longer local; they are global. the vibrant growth of your
own economy is tied closely, therefore, to the restoration of stability and
growth in the asia pacific region.
china has steadfastly shouldered its
responsibilities to the region and the world in this latest financial crisis --
helping to prevent another cycle of dangerous deva luations. we must continue to
work together to counter this threat to the global financial system and to the
growth and prosperity which should be embracing all of this region.
in the 21st century, your generation will
have a remarkable opportunity to bring together the talents of our scientists,
doctors, engineers into a shared quest for progress. already the breakthroughs
we have achieved in our areas of joint cooperation -- in challenges from
dealing with spina bifida to dealing with extreme weather conditions and
earthquakes -- have proved what we can do together to change the lives of
millions of people in china and the united states and around the world.
expanding our cooperation in science and technology can be one of our greatest
gifts to the future.
in each of these vital areas that i have
mentioned, we can clearly accomplish so much more by walking together rather
than standing apart. that is why we should work to see that the productive
relationship we now enjoy blossoms into a fuller partnership in the new
century.
if that is to happen, it is very important
that we understand each other better, that we understand both our common
interest and our shared aspirations and our honest differences. i believe the
kind of open, direct exchange that president jiang and i had on saturday at our
press conference -- which i know many of you watched on television -- can both
clarify and narrow our differences, and, more important, by allowing people to
understand and debate and discuss these things can give a greater sense of
confidence to our people that we can make a better future.
from the windows of the white house, where
i live in washington, d.c., the monument to our first president, george
washington, dominates the skyline. it is a very tall obelisk. but very near
this large monument there is a small stone which contains these words: the
united states neither established titles of nobility and royalty, nor created a
hereditary system. state affairs are put to the vote of public opinion.
this created a new political situation,
unprecedented from ancient times to the present. how wonderful it is. those
words were not written by an american. they were written by xu jiyu, governor
of fujian province, inscribed as a gift from the government of china to our
nation in 1853.
i am very grateful for that gift from
china. it goes to the heart of who we are as a people -- the right to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the freedom to debate, to dissent, to
associate, to worship without interference from the state. these are the ideals
that were at the core of our founding over 220 years ago. these are the ideas
that led us across our continent and onto the world stage. these are the ideals
that americans cherish today.
as i said in my press conference with
president jiang, we have an ongoing quest ourselves to live up to those ideals.
the people who framed our constitution understood that we would never achieve
perfection. they said that the mission of america would always be “to form a
more perfect union” -- in other words, that we would never be perfect, but we
had to keep trying to do better.
the darkest moments in our history have
come when we abandoned the effort to do better, when we denied freedom to our
people because of their race or their religion, because there were new
immigrants or because they held unpopular opinions. the best moments in our
history have come when we protected the freedom of people who held unpopular
opinion, or extended rights enjoyed by the many to the few who had previously
been denied them, making, therefore, the promises of our declaration of
independence and constitution more than faded words on old parchment.
today we do not seek to impose our vision
on others, but we are convinced that certain rights are universal -- not
american rights or european rights or rights for developed nations, but the
birthrights of people everywhere, now enshrined in the united nations
declaration on human rights -- the right to be treated with dignity; the right
to express one’s opinions, to choose one’s own leaders, to associate freely
with others, and to worship, or not, freely, however one chooses.
in the last letter of his life, the author
of our declaration of independence and our third president, thomas jefferson,
said then that “all eyes are opening to the rights of man.” i believe that in
this time, at long last, 172 years after jefferson wrote those words, all eyes
are opening to the rights of men and women everywhere.
over the past two decades, a rising tide of
freedom has lifted the lives of millions around the world, sweeping away failed
dictatorial systems in the former soviet union, throughout central europe;
ending a vicious cycle of military coups and civil wars in latin america;
giving more people in africa the chance to make the most of their hard-won
independence. and from the philippines to south korea, from thailand to
mongolia, freedom has reached asia’s shores, powering a surge of growth and
productivity.
economic security also can be an essential
element of freedom. it is recognized in the united nations covenant on
economic, social, and cultural rights. in china, you have made extraordinary
strides in nurturing that liberty, and spreading freedom from want, to be a
source of strength to your people. incomes are up, poverty is down; people do
have more choices of jobs, and the ability to travel -- the ability to make a
better life. but true freedom includes more than economic freedom. in america,
we believe it is a concept which is indivisible.
over the past four days, i have seen
freedom in many manifestations in china. i have seen the fresh shoots of democracy
growing in the villages of your heartland. i have visited a village that chose
its own leaders in free elections. i have also seen the cell phones, the video
players, the fax machines carrying ideas, information and images from all over
the world. i’ve heard people speak their minds and i have joined people in
prayer in the faith of my own choosing. in all these ways i felt a steady
breeze of freedom.
the question is, where do we go from here?
how do we work together to be on the right side of history together? more than
50 years ago, hu shi, one of your great political thinkers and a teacher at
this university, said these words: “now some people say to me you must
sacrifice your individual freedom so that the nation may be free. but i reply,
the struggle for individual freedom is the struggle for the nation’s freedom.
the struggle for your own character is the struggle for the nation’s
character.”
we americans believe hu shi was right. we
believe and our experience demonstrates that freedom strengthens stability and
helps nations to change.
one of our founding fathers, benjamin
franklin, once said, “our critics are our friends, for they show us our
faults.” now, if that is true, there are many days in the united states when
the president has more friends than anyone else in america. (laughter.) but it
is so.
in the world we live in, this global
information age, constant improvement and change is necessary to economic
opportunity and to national strength. therefore, the freest possible flow of
information, ideas, and opinions, and a greater respect for divergent political
and religious convictions will actually breed strength and stability going
forward.
it is, therefore, profoundly in your
interest, and the world’s, that young chinese minds be free to reach the
fullness of their potential. that is the message of our time and the mandate of
the new century and the new millennium.
i hope china will more fully embrace this
mandate. for all the grandeur of your history, i believe your greatest days are
still ahead. against great odds in the 20th century china has not only
survived, it is moving forward dramatically.
other ancient cultures failed because they
failed to change. china has constantly proven the capacity to change and grow.
now, you must re-imagine china again for a new century, and your generation
must be at the heart of china’s regeneration.
the new century is upon us. all our sights
are turned toward the future. now your country has known more millennia than
the united states has known centuries. today, however, china is as young as any
nation on earth. this new century can be the dawn of a new china, proud of your
ancient greatness, proud of what you are doing, prouder still of the tomorrows
to come. it can be a time when the world again looks to china for the vigor of
its culture, the freshness of its thinking, the elevation of human dignity that
is apparent in its works. it can be a time when the oldest of nations helps to
make a new world.
the united states wants to work with you to
make that time a reality.
thank you very much. (applause.)

第四篇:大学生英语演讲比赛优秀演讲稿how to balance study and part-time jobmy distinguished teachers and
dear friends,
good evening.
it ‘s my pleasure to stand here and
introduce myself. my name is ma lian from foreign language department.it’s my
honor to give you a speech .my topic is how to balance study and part-time job.
in order to improve our socializing skills,
lighten our financial burden and also spend our spare time, lots of us choose
to hunt for a part-job.according to the survey ,there are about 70% of collage
students doing a part-time work. so here comes to this question how to balance
study and part-time job.
firstly, many of us may complain about the
shortage of time.when you focus on one, you may lose the other.but remember
positive attitude is the key to everything.be confident that you can deal with
these two items . for instance , you can make a clear timetable and this will
remind you your arrangement and making the full use of you time .after all,not
only study but also accumulate relevant working experience is very important.
secondly,never let part-time jobs occupy
our school time.i usually do a part-time job in my holiday.what’s more,when i
have to choose between work and study,my answer is always study. now,i want to
ask you 2 questions .how many years can we use to study?yes ,three.then, how
many years can we use to work.? yes it will be a long time ,maybe 30 or 40.
it’s obvious now, collage life is so precious ,therefore, we should enjoy our
time in school.in the future there will be opportunities for us to work.and at
that time ,you’ll definitely miss the past time in collage .why not cherish
every second here?
everyone wants to be successful, right?
if you want to be successful, you should
study hard.
if you want to be successful, you should
have part- time job experience.
if you want to be more successful, you
should balance study and part-time job. that’s all for my speech.thanks for
your listening!
good morning, ladies and gentlemen,
i’m very glad to make a speech here. today my topic is “i
love you, china.”
since the day i was born, i began to have a
proud name—chinese. since the day i began to talk, the most beautiful
sentence i’ve ever learnt has been “i love you,
china!”
i love you, china, and i’m so
proud of being a chinese. i’m proud that i’ve got the
beautiful yellow skin, black eyes and black hair. i’m also proud that
i speak the most beautiful language in the world—chinese.
i love you, china, for i can feel the deep
love you give me every day, every minute. last year, i got an opportunity to
visit the united states of america. during my staying there, my
father’s boss once invited my family to dinner. while at , he looked
at me and asked: “little boy, how long have you been in
america?” “about a month,” i answered,
“how lucky you are!” he said, “if you were living
in china, how could you learn such perfect english?” i smiled and
told him proudly that all the students in china are able to learn english at
school. i saw his surprised eyes and said to myself, “i’m
proud of you, china ”

ladies and gentlemen, teachers, my fellow
students:
i am very excited and feel it’s a great honor
to stand here to deliver my speech. what i’m going to talk about is
"choice in my life"
i can still remember the first time i
failed in a singing contest. i immediately ran to my grandma, shedding lots of
tears of course! i cried loudly and could hardly utter a word!
then, badly needed comforting words and
touch came from grandma. i gradually regained my sense of pride and a sensible
control of my feelings. yet, head down, i said: "grandma, i have no
choice, and i have to give up, right?" "look at me, my
dear!"she said gently. i looked up, straight into her eyes. what i saw
was a shining, sweet, and loving stream from the bottom of her heart! then,
there came the gentle voice of hers: "no, no, no…"
her head shaking, while eyes smiling. "why don’t you give more
attention to the details?" she continued.
no other words were needed any more! i
started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those
little things that i used to ignore. as a consequence, my overall performance
was quickly elevated to a new high! without much trouble, in another singing
contest held months later, i won!
what do i learn from this experience? never
give up lightly! life’s full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize
your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart
and steer your lifeboat wisely! as a li ling’s sportswear commercial goes
"everything is possible!" but not without sweat, devotion,
and tears sometimes!
life is a long journey, during which we are
surely going to face many challenges, experience lots of failures, and equally,
many opportunities are waving to us, while sweet rewards are waiting for us! to
transform these opportunities into fruitful results, or turn those challenges
and failures into valuable assets, we must learn to seize the good ones and not
to retreat lightly in front of difficulties.
winners can never be quitters!
thank you all!

morning teachers and fellow students. today we would like to introduce a few
favorite books to you.
my favorite book is <heart>
(italian: cuore). this is a diary written by an italian boy enrico. the diary
is about his life and study. it included various touching stories that happened
around enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten
"monthly" stories told by his teacher during the class. every
word in the chapter describes the word "love". from
patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really
touching.
this novel taught me how to love, and how
to learn from love. i really like this book very much. how about you? what is
your favorite book?
my favorite book is <little
princess>. have you read it before?
oh, i haven’t read this book before. what is it about?
well, it is a story of a rich girl who
maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. the story is
happy ending.
can you tell us why you love this book so
much?
sure. it is because the story taught us to
be brave and to face the challenges and difficulties with courage. i am deeply
impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story.
i have decided to learn from her from now on.
oh i see, the story sounds very good. i
cannot wait to read this book as well.
feel, i think,老是用i,显得十分主观,狭隘。
比如:you
should not smoke.
其中 of the people, by the people, for the people(民有,民治,民享)已成为不朽佳句。
gettysburg address
four score and seven years ago, our fathers
brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and
dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. now we are engaged
in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived
and so dedicated, can long endure.
we are met o(请勿抄袭好范文网:wWW.91exam.org)n a great
battlefield of that war. we have come to dedicate a portion of the field as a
final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that the nation might
live. it is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. but in a
larger sense we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this
ground.
the brave men, living and dead, who
struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract.
the world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can
never forget what they did here.
it is for us, the living, rather to be
dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far
so nobly advanced. it is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task
remaining before us, ----that from these honored dead we take increased
devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion,
----that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain,
----that this nation, under god, shall have a new birth of freedom, ----and
that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish
from the earth.
that government of the people, by the
people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.(排比)
united, there is little we can not do;
divided, there is little we can do.(对照)
let every nation know, whether it wishes us
well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship,
support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of
liberty.
in this world, there is one thing that is
very fair to everybody, whether you are a male or female, young or old, rich or
poor. does anybody know what it is called?
right. it is time. the topic i am going to
present to you today is called “ treasure every minute”.
to realize the value of one year, ask a
student who failed a grade.
to realize the value of one month, ask a
mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
to realize the value of one week, ask the
editor of a weekly newspaper.
to realize the value of one hour, ask the
lovers who are waiting to meet.
to realize the value of one minute, ask a
person who missed the train.
to realize the value of one second, ask a
person who just avoided an accident.
to realize the value of one millisecond,
ask the person who won a silver medal in the olympics.
treasure every moment that you have! and
treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to
spend your time with.
and remember that time waits for no one.
yesterday is history. tomorrow is a mystery. today is a gift. that's
why it's called the present!! the clock is running. make the most of
today.
good luck, everybody!
thank you !

my brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer
of my sisters bureau and lifted out a tissue-wrapped package. this, he said, is
not a slip. this is lingerie. he discarded the tissue and handed me the slip.
it was exquisite, silk, handmade and
trimmed with a cobweb of lace. the price tag with an astronomical figure on it
was still attached.
jan bought this the first time we went to
new york, at least 8 or 9 years ago. she never wore it. she was saving it for a
special occasion.
well, i guess this is the occasion.
he took the slip from me and put it on the
bed, with the other clothes we were taking to the mortician. his hands lingered
on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed the drawer shut and turned
to me, dont ever save anything for a special occasion. every day you re alive
is a special occasion.
i remembered those words through the
funeral and the days that followed when i helped him and my niece attend to all
the sad chores that follow an unexpected death. i thought about them on the
plane returning to california from the midwestern town where my sisters family
lives. i thought about all the things that she hadnt seen or heard or done. i
thought about the things that she had done without realizing that they were
special.
im still thinking about his words, (本站推荐:www.91exam.org)and theyve
changed the weeds in the garden. im spending more time with my family and
friends and less time in committee meetings. whenever possible, life should be
a pattern of experience to savour, not endure. im trying to recognize these
moment now and cherish them.
im not saving anything; we use our good
china and crystal for every special. event such as losing a pound, getting the
sink unstopped, the first camellia blossom… i wear my good blazer to
the market if i feel like it. my theory is if i look prosperous, i can shell
out $28. 49 for one small bag of groceries without wincing. im not saving my
good perfume for special parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in
banks have noses that function as well as my party going friends.
someday and one of these days are losing
their grip on my vocabulary. if its worth seeing or hearing or doing, i want to
see and hear and do it now. im not sure what my sister wouldve done had she
know that she wouldnt be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted.
i think she would have called family
members and a few close friends. she might have called a few former friends to
apologize, and mend fences for past squabbles. i like to think she would have
gone out for a chinese dinner, her favorite food. im guessing. ill never know.
its those little things left undone that
would make me angry if i knew that my hours were limited. angry because i put
off seeing good friends whom i was going to get in touch with someday. angry
because i hadnt written certain letters that i intended to write one of these
days. angry and sorry that i didnt tell my husband and daughter often enough
how much i truly love them.
im trying very hard not to put off, hold
back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives. and
every morning when i open my eyes, i tell myself that every day, every minute,
every breath truly, is... a gift from god.

time to be equal to murders for money." this explained the importance
of the time.and remember that time waits for no one.yesterday is history.

today i should treasure time well
hello everyone, time, was a strange thing,
it makes all sickness and death. when there is something born of time, from
that moment the beginning of time has passed. how to we do? we can only seize
the opportunity to seize life, to do the masters of their own destiny.
i have thought about a problem, what is
time? i think that time is of the mind in life when the runway, and it is
responsible for the completion of a mission of a subdivision.occasionally, the
memories, can regulate our emotions, purify our hearts. has been really
obsessed with old things is not desirable because it is more important now.
time is of the essence, time is gone
forever, and we must treasure this good time, study hard, grow up, the
effectiveness of the motherland. it is also the so-called "one inch by
one inch gold time, gold-inch inch time. let us cherish the time with it!
