SCU Pittsburgh Institute Technical Position Hiring

About SCUPI:

Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) is a new academic entity jointly established by the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) in the U.S. and Sichuan University (SCU) in China. Officially approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China in March 2014, SCUPI is one of the five institute-scale collaborative programs between leading universities in the U.S. and China. SCUPI stands out for its technical focus on advanced and sustainable manufacturing and offers three undergraduate majors in Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). The curricula at SCUPI will be based on Pitt’s Swanson School of Engineering’s core curriculum and they will be instructed in English. English is the official language for communication at SCUPI. The first class of 100 students will be enrolled in fall, 2015.

Computer and Information Technology (IT) Administrator

This is a technical position that to be filled by an individual who will play an integral role in providing comput er and IT related services for SCUPI. The individual will also serve as the IT point contact or representative of SCUPI to interact with various entities within Sichuan University and beyond. 

General responsibilities:

·         Develops strategic plans in development and realization of IT related systems for SCUPI students and employees

·         Develops various IT systems based on needs in teaching, research and administration of SCUPI

·         Provides and coordinate the maintenance effort for computer hardware and software systems in SCUPI

·         Develops and maintains SCUPI website

·         Provides computer and IT related technical support and consulting to students and employees

·         Other tasks as needed, which might not be explicitly stated above but are related to the strategic developments of the Institute.

Professional Knowledge and Qualifications:

·         Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems or a related discipline

·         Minimum one year full-time professional experience in an IT related field

·         Knowledge and experience in Adobe, java script, web graphics creation, multimedia production, and manipulation web conferencing tools

·         Reasonable programming experience and capabilities

·         Knowledge and/or experience in engineering application software, e.g. ANSYS, SolidWorks, would be a plus but not essential

General Abilities:

·         Reasonable command in English speaking and writing

·         Good interpersonal and teaming skills with faculty, staff and students in an academic setting

·         Multi-tasking capabilities and be sensitive to priorities
